Midnight North
2019 10-30 | The Earl | Atlanta, GA
I'd been meaning to see Midnight North for quite some time, but the scheduling stars never quite aligned. Until they did. And in a special way. The Earl is a unique room for Atlanta. It has a certain ... patina ... to it. Which is to say that The Earl has seen some serious shit. And, for that, it's glorious. There have been plenty of nights that I've watched bands here where I walked away marveling at how luck I was to get to seem them in this room. This was one of those nights. And the fact that they were opening for Los Colognes, another band I'm really into, was just icing on the cake. I got to the venue early. I was going to take some candid pre-show photos of Los Colognes. But it was a stormy night in Atlanta, and the headliner was late and didn't even have time to soundcheck. Which meant I had a little extra time hanging with Midnight North. Lovely people all around. Though, I had an especially fun conversation with keyboardist Alex Jordan. He's into photography, especially animals and nature. And this led to a fun conversation about the importance of bees. The major takeaway was this: Bees are good. But fuck wasps.
